Hi @Aklapper, thanks for the response. Instead of this bug report here, please go to the links from Wikidata, e.g., from here: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q56864029&diff=756586516&oldid=756540941. You will see one link on the left, the other on the right. Please check the link having Bengali script.

This problem is present in other Wikis too. I have noticed it in enWS and bnWS, whenever a link containing these characters (like য়) goes to a non-Wiki site, it does not work, but it works fine when the link goes to another Wiki.

Yes, it's a long-standing need.

The preview is visible now after my overwrite. But please see the upload log. The thumbnail of the original version (compressed pdf) is not visible.

In plainer words, the concept is this: there will be a new user group, say Page-quality admins. Admins will be able to assign themselves to this group. Admins in bot mode (i.e., having membership of the bot-user group) and bot accounts with admin rights will not have access to this group. There will be a time menu and a reason menu while assigning this right. Both menus will be mandatory. A bureaucrat can add/change options in the two menus after community consensus. If the site has no 'crat, a steward can do it. Some sites may want this right as a regular feature. They may choose the option "indefinite" from the time menu. Sites not wanting this as a regular feature won't have the indefinite option, these being fixable by the 'crat or steward. This way, those who want it, those who don't, and those who want it in a restrictive way --- all will be satisfied. (sites that don't want it at all may lock the time menu by greying it).

The emerging concept in English Wikisource discussion is that this right may be self-assignable by the admins, not in bot mode, for a specific period and purpose, list of purposes to be fixed by the community. This right is not to be general default for the admins, purpose for self-assigning the right, like a bot-flag, to be mandatorily chosen, from a pre-fixed menu, as decided by community consensus.

Bengali characters are confirmed. Present at http://unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0980.pdf
Patch for Bangla character set as under:
At jsonlint, the content is shown as valid when pasted there, but the file shows
Updated json file:

Fixed the characters. Not sure about whatever AuFCL meant by legality or validity of JSON format. Language part is over, however.
@AuFCL If the font does not matter, the characters zwj and zwnj can be copy-pasted from the Arabic portion, is it not?
Ah, I see that you have already noticed the syntax problem. I had already pinged you not knowing that you have noticed. I am no expert, but I noticed that the syntax differs for Arabic. Thanks for the fix.
@Nasirkhan can you help with the JSON format? List now available at the enWS CharInsert gadget and not on its talk page.
The character zwnj is invisible in isolation. However it is present near the end of Vrinda character set in MS Windows 7 character map
See the examples মিস্মি (without zwnj) and মিস্মি (with zwnj). If you can visually appreciate the difference, that should be the justification.
I have discussed the zwnj compatibility issue with GOIII. Awaiting his opinion. If he finds it compatible as per my suggestion, then the issue can be considered as settled and we can go forward from there.
Thanks to GOIII for adding anji (ঀ). Now the addition of ‌ will make the list final.

It is about the WikiEditor. The proposed list is on the gadget talk page. The gadget in enWS is already updated (except later additions to the proposed list). This proposal is about the global set, acroos wiki projects.
Please make update at https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Gadget-charinsert-core.js#Proposed_Bengali_character_list and then place info here.
The Bangla character set is incomplete. Not only that, alternate character forms (for R and W) used in Assamese and Manipuri languages should also be there. I suggest incorporating the English Wikisource CharInsert set for Bengali characters. (available at https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-charinsert-core.js)
