Chrome is what I usually use, and it has all the extensions I use. I should just use another browser as I have every browser available for my computer (except Chromium as I don't feel like compiling it).

Does anyone know of an extension for native MathML display on Chrome? I have tried a couple of extensions, but they don't seem to work.

@Physikerwelt I think there needs to be some documentation that that is recommended for copying equations with the intent of editing them

@Physikerwelt I did not think you would get a word equation in PNG mode either. I can't say what to do about no SVG support in MS word; I don't use Word myself, but I can see how that might be a problem. Has anyone tried sending that to Microsoft?

@GWicke like I said at T136672 if copy/paste (which I think works now from my testing) does not work then this issue is not resolved as they were merged.

I'm going to go ahead and put up an RFC for a banner on en-wiki later today. If people think it is a bad idea there, then it won't go up. If not you might see a banner advertising MathML with SVG or PNG fallback soon!

@GWicke this was closed because it is a duplicate of T136709. It was suggested here to use the img tag as well as there and as they were similar problems and solutions they were merged. If that is fixed so is this, if this is not fixed, then it is not either. Because of this, I am closing this once again.

I am not sure there are any on en-wiki, but I wish to make sure.

Hey @mobrovac and @Physikerwelt, do you think a banner should be put up (for all users or just logged in ones?) that MathML is now the default and if you are logged in that it is recommended to enable it? I have already put up an RFC for T136685#2345546 at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#RFC:_Replace_all_instances_of_.5Bh.5D_in_TeX.2FLaTeX_.28and_in_MathJax.29_with_.5Btcb.5D so I could easily add that banner as part of the RFC for en-wiki at least. I think there is some global version on meta, but I would recommend someone else add that as I am very active in that community.

@TTO that is true, but both are the same problems just that one has a possible solution that will not work in all browsers. Conversion to <img> or inline SVG which is the other possible solution should fix both problems so we should discuss. it together

I don't think it would work but @SalixAlba can you try purging the page? Also, this is quite important so I am increasing the priority.

T136709: "Make math using MathML / SVG / PNG mode print properly" is set to high and as that is likely a duplicate I am setting this to high too.

Ok, thanks, @GWicke. I don't know how exactly we do things, but it sounds like changing to <img> or inline SVG should work. I don't know who can add/test that (I think it would be tested on the beta cluster first) but whoever that it should do that soon.

@Danny_B I agree that this is a dupe. I don't know how to merge it, but I think @mobrovac can do that.

@GWicke as far as I can tell doing that (inline SVG might work) would cause some MathML browsers to display both the image and the MathML.

I will put out an RFC on en-Wikipedia, but it is not possible to add some rule that translates the "h"'s to "tcb" before parsing them? It might be less elegant, but it could work.

@Physikerwelt You missed the actual formula after "following formulae is messed up."

If there is no option and it is ignored then why is it causing problems now but not with PNG only mode? What happens if one that page with the problems you remove it?

I don't use that much TeX/LaTeX, but you could try testing it in PNG mode which I believe we know to work and see what it does in different situations. I don't know if you can look at the code, but you could try that too although that would be more difficult you would get a definite answer. There must be something about it somewhere though as why would people use it if they have never heard of it or did not know what it did. It is possible it was written in a non-English language which might make searching more difficult.

It appears whatever problem I had has been fixed. I agree with the above on creating an image so it can be copy/pasted rather than whatever it is now. I think that this can be an easy fix at least temporarily so I am increasing the priority.

Unless I am missing something it does not appear to be enabled on en-wiki. Using the following link with and without being logged in (I have enabled MathML/SVG) and logging out I can see that while logged in I get SVG and logged out I get PNG: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibonacci_number. Our enwiki RFC was closed a long time ago. Can we make the change on en.wikipedia.org now? I can't do this myself as I don't know how it is done and I probably don't have the permissions to do so.

Is there anything left blocking this or can we go ahead and make the change for en.wikipedia.org as the original RFC was?

I am just wondering why "T132096: Improve save / preview performance of MathML math rendering mode" is blocking this request?
