We probably need more testing so things like 1e-123 arrive as:

and 1.0e-123 arrives as:

Those are some rather important edge cases. The API works more like a metrologist or engineering software where trailing zeros are preserved. But I am also not an expert in this topic.

I did some more testing and this bug seems to only effect properties that take strings as input, strings, external identifiers, ect.

This would be useful since most datasets would use many external identifiers and can be time consuming to add them to MediaWiki:Wikibase-SortedProperties along with having to add the other properties to stop external identifiers coming before other properties, could also be useful if you could add statement groups for properties other than external identifiers as it is possible in regular wikibase installs but external identifiers would probably be the most used.

Before the weekend (24 June) the SPARQL seemed to work normally, ie any changes I made in Q-en P-items showed up within a minuute in the SPARQL results.

This issue is now tracked on the github issue listed above, this problem will probably be delayed until MediaWiki 1.38 is released
