IT Support Ticket #2281 has been submitted to set up the subdomain for this.

The first Wikibase seems to no longer be active and the second one leads to a "Login Required" page, which is causing the "not found" error. The login page seems to be specific to that site, rather than something we can check for and add a general case for as part of the scraper.

Adding another arg to getRankedSearchResults isn't possible because RemoteEntitySearchHelper has to match the function given in its parent class EntitySearchHelper. This essentially means that removing the code smell would require some more investigation about how and where this method is currently being called and a bigger decision about how to architect this.
