Hmm I tried simulating the IP block and the success path. I am seeing the account_created event.
I tethered my phone and ran mw.testKitchen.overrideExperimentGroup('account-creation-reading-list-cta', 'treatment'); in console.
After several clicks I found a page with the bookmark icon (I am assured this won;t happen for the actual experiment T428992: Remove the override cookie

I don't think we need to fix the old parser. We can wait for Parsoid to become the default parser (it is already the case on English Wikipedia).

I wonder if there are any partnerships we could do. Could be a good email campaign to drive account creation @HFan-WMF @AKanji-WMF ?
e.g. we launch an app that connects to Spotify and then generates a reading list that you can then save to Wikipedia?
This is not Vector 2022 specific. I can replicate the behaviour on Monobook,Timeless and Minerva.

Monobook was missing from the requirements so I added it. I suggest we merge phase 2 tomorrow (and wait an additional week for Vector 2022 and Minerva given they are our flagship skins and have the most traffic)
my understanding is that if you use the link in the footer it confuses the browser mode. Might relate to T407023: Inconsistent behavior when using desktop view on mobile device
