My name is Joshua Kato, a PHP/JavaScript developer from Uganda applying for GSoC 2026. I came across the Bulk OCR Improvements project, and I'm very excited about it. Improving access to digitised books on Wikisource is meaningful work that directly helps knowledge sharing globally.
I have solid experience with PHP (Laravel), JavaScript, HTML, CSS , Vue js and OOP. I'm comfortable working with APIs and understand how to build and test backend features. I've already created a Phabricator account, joined the Wikimedia Zulip community and subscribed to the Google-Summer-of-Code (2026) channel.
I noticed the great foundation from the Outreachy work done previously. I'd love to build on that for GSoC 2026.
