Yes, but I had installed the font locally last year and it did not allow me to read WP pages that use the Kaktovik characters. Then one day I could. Could've been a browser update, but there is no Unicode font available other than the one I uploaded, so I have no idea what might've changed.

AFAICT all Wiktionary and Wikipedia articles that currently use the digits:

Thank you!

No code change, the characters simply started to display properly on my system and I assumed. But others tell me they still see boxes. No idea why I should see the characters now -- I haven't installed any new fonts and I don't need to be logged in to see them.

@Aklapper Looks like this has been taken care of. The Unicode characters now display in multiple WP's and WK's. So I think this thread can be closed -- don't want to do it myself, though, in case I misunderstood something.

Okay, thanks! We'll just put up with our text not being searchable, I guess.
Okay, that's exactly what I'm getting at. These are inline images, so 'thumb' and 'frame' are not appropriate solutions. Rather, they are used for Unicode characters that don't yet have good font support, and so need to be augmented with images. But *replacing* them with images means they no longer show up in a search. Meanwhile, leaving them as searchable text means they are not legible to the reader. I'd like both: they should be both legible and searchable. If I understand you correctly, you're saying this isn't something that can be fixed at Phabricator, and we'd have to get Chrome, Firefox and the rest to implement this at their end?

Thanks. I tried doing it myself, but I'm finding the instructions very confusing, so better if someone who knows what they're doing tried it. BTW, this Unicode block is being used in literacy and language-revitalization projects and has been in the news, and the WP-en page occasionally gets up to 25k hits a day, so I think this would be nice to support.
@Aklapper: Sorry, pinging me here doesn't seem to work. I didn't get a notice that this had been answered.

Per request, copied original VP request to WP:VPR (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#Should_we_have_a_more_intuitive_word_for_resizing_images_than_%22upright%22%3F ) for further comment.

I can add OFL or whatever to the (c) section of the font info and re-upload the .ttf if that is needed. Just let me know how to word it.

Is this something that could be added to WM as a web font, so that people from the community (e.g. the North Slope Borough school district) could read the WP and WK articles without a font installed? We're working on getting a font and keyboard that will work on people's phones, but evidently installing new fonts on phones is not straightforward, so it will probably be a while before many people have adequate support.
Hi @Aklapper
Here's the link:
