@Aklapper Hi! I'm sorry for the long delay, I had trouble setting up with the way Wikimedia works with Git and I abandoned collaboration to python projects altogether.

Here is what we know about the issue:
- The issue has been mainly around DSL ISPs, amongst three major mobile Internet providers in Iran, we received a mixed rate of reports mostly leaning towards Wikipedia being accessible through the 4G Internet.
- DNS lookups and traceroute done on fa.wikipedia.org showed that the traffic is being correctly routed to a Wikimedia PoP. (esams) Considering the main method of blocking websites in Iran is disruption at this level, this highly suggests that the issue was technical and not possibly a legal block order by Iran.
- Although fa.wikipedia.org, along with wikimedia.org in one test were both unavailable by browser requests, pinging (and therefore ICMP connections) seemed to be working fine at the time.
Although, the drop in Persian Wikipedia edit count, while the issue was going on, suggests that the problem occurred on a large scale. We're keeping an eye on our social outlets and statistics for more information. As of now, I like to believe that the issue was solely technical in Iran's side.

@Daimona I agree that 2ms on its own isn't slow, but considering Persian Wikipedia has over 150 active filters, the numbers add up, the main reason this issue is being worked on locally is the concern that the filters are adding up to 0.5 to 1.5 seconds to the time it takes for saving an edit which isn't good. Will page_age be a faster method than page_recent_contributor for checking if the page is new? As far as I know, the fastest variable to check is old_size but that's unreliable. (though could be used in many cases)

@Daimona I think my example was unclear, in python 3.x, if you put "۱۱۱۱" through int function, it'd yield 1111. therefore int("1111") == int("۱۱۱۱") will be true. I think the int function in AbuseFilter should also be capable of this.
Edit: I double-checked and the effect can be reproduced in Python 3.6.8.

Massive attacks are happening in Persian Wikipedia while the troll uses Persian unbreakable space () to get around the abuse filter. This is being used widely by the troll and there isn't a local way around it. I'm changing the priority to the highest since this is becoming an urgent.

@Huji I'd suggest you adding a filter in the Persian Wikipedia to prevent more than a few amount of entities until this task is resolved, may that happen?

This hasn't been decided about sysops demoting an eliminator. So sysops should only promote to eliminators.

I think Sysops should be able to. like other wikis.

Thanks. Though I should find a better searching method cause Google didn't give me those.

Last mentioned page looks like it's not accessible anymore, New namespace defined and working well. I mark this as resolved.

There are active users in the Wiki, but most of them don't contribute in technical discussions. there will be users to use requested permissions but not enough users that deal with code everyday.
In this case, I can make a discussion in the wiki. Ready for doing any instructions or needed information.
There aren't any technical user but User:Sajad there. if it is required, tell me to make it but I didn't cause even normal discussions are often inactive and I haven't been told to do it.
