I don't think it should not happen automatically. I think we'd at least want someone to make that decision while working in deduper. Can this be a separate button from "Not a duplicate"?

Thank you. It can be blank (for now). I also want to let you know that Melanie pointed this out to me before she logged this and I unchecked the Default button on this code, which had somehow been checked (maybe in an update?), and then it was again checked after we corrected it.

I could see the tags and/or groups function to be useful. Would these things need to be data fields in the import spreadsheet or added automatically based on the import type? I do bulk additions of tags to matching gift companies and donors, but it would be better if this was more automated. I can also see this as being maybe beneficial for the MG team with DAFs

Yes, we should suppress all TYL for Benevity as well. Although there are individual and corporate gifts being made in that file they were made first to Benevity and this is who is issuing the tax receipt, not WMF. It would be nice to be able to send a donor SOMETHING when we import benevity but it is definitely not the traditional TYL

Yeah I think so as well. We can break this list down further and have major gifts decide for those with significant lifetime giving (I already see a few over $4k) and perhaps have DR help with the rest @MDemosWMF What do you think?

Agreed. Relationship types should be audited for sure but we should hold it until we work in that into our plans.

Yes they are two fields. They are usually complementary to each other. In this case the corporate donation reason and source are basically the same and can be marked as a Corporate Gift. The other one is just a little trickier because it's PAC Match and then User Donation. User donation can sometimes mean Individual Gift from the donor but in this case the funds are in the Matching Gift field and would u become a gift source = Matching Gift

Endowment Gift was to be removed and that would be indicated in the Restrictions field on a gift

I have some new Source/Reasons that need mapping on this import.

@Eileenmcnaughton I'm planning to create individual tasks for each testing. However, I have continued to play around on staging. I cannot find a way to uncouple the ability to create custom fields and make data field changes (creating new tags, creating new dropdowns) from the ability to do most basic tasks.
Is this something we can work towards changing in the future?

@Eileenmcnaughton I created a new role on Staging - Major Gifts and Endowment. I've tested it with a new user as well. It checks off the goal of removing permission to edit or delete a contribution.
I cannot, however, find a way to limit permissions on creating or editing custom fields and tags. Can you assist?
Otherwise, we can move this role to production. There will also be another role needed "Online" but it will be the exact same permissions.

@Eileenmcnaughton Sandra and I talked this through. She is okay with not creating another role for donor relations. Everyone with the Donor Relations role should have this ability. However, I think they are still having issues with the permission so that still needs addressed.

@Eileenmcnaughton All of the recurring gifts will need to be updated to the financial type Recurring Gift (for the first) or Recurring Gift -Cash for all others

Good point! I'll set up a search to monitor it through the end of the month before disabling it. We are still working on the other task to go back and update gifts through July 1

@Damilare @Eileenmcnaughton I'm seeing the new Online Gift source coming through starting on the 5th. Can I go ahead and disable Benefactor and community gift options?

Adding some notes about what exactly this will become after all the other changes have taken place. These changes will affect all gifts going back to the fiscal year July 1, 2023 unless stated otherwise.

@Eileenmcnaughton Thanks for talking this through with me and I somewhat understand it all now. I spoke with Erica and Melanie. We'll KEEP Endowment Gift as a financial type for the time being given that WMF Donor fields are calculated using this. Let's explore using Campaign ID in the future perhaps.
Given this development, Endowment Gifts online will be as follows
Financial Type = Endowment Gift
Restriction = Endowment Fund
Gift Source = Online Gift

@Damilare Yes I am not familiar with some of those sources or reasons either. In truth, I've only worked on importing the file into civi for a three month period.
I've reached out to Rosie to see if she had any historical knowledge about how these fields translated to what we have in civi but we don't have any information. My understanding is that there are only three types of gifts from those files, Matching Gift, Payroll Deduction, and then straight donation (Individual Gift).

@Eileenmcnaughton Makes sense. The plan is definitely to remove Endowment Fund from the financial type and make this indication in the Restrictions field. We'll need to plan how to change this on all Endowment gifts historically.

@Eileenmcnaughton @Damilare I emailed you both and example of a benevity import. I've removed all donor information and put my name in it. It has one row for each type of donation that came through in that specific report.

@Eileenmcnaughton I think we can disable search for that field. Let me double-check with all the teams during the data field audit

No we want to keep calculating those fields. Especially, lifetime donations, or lifetime Endowment donations.

@Eileenmcnaughton yeah I think it's going to be incredibly useful! We want to keep as many of these fields required as possible so we have more ways to identify gift channels, attribution, etc.

UPDATE: We've decided that we would like to use Online Gift as the gift source for all gifts coming through a banner, email, website, etc.

Great! Since we're changing the language of Financial Type to actual financial types let's go with Recurring Gift for the first and Recurring Gift - Cash for all subsequent.

@JMando @MSuijkerbuijk_WMF Would there be a benefit for either of you two to differentiate between the first recurring gift and all subsequent gifts? For example, we could name the first gift as a Recurring gift and all subsequent gifts as Recurring Gift - Cash - This would allow analytics to focus just on the first gift when needed.
