Indeed, I noticed it was not working for Asturian in TW some months ago (maybe since January or February), following a major software change in TranslateWiki.

3 letter codes support is fixed in Android since 2014. Please, see these bug reports in Android Gerrit:

As for ast translation, it will be fine by following the original string, so it should be reverted if the code is reverted.

The issue here is that for Asturian, Spanish and other languages we need the string for $time to come after the string for $ago to get a correct sentence.
