Instance set up - just trying to get the EventLogging in general set up so we can start debugging
@Lokal_Profil Hej! Could you just confirm which version of Google Chrome you're running?
@Aklapper Hi Andre, this was more of a personal note to myself to look into it :-P hence why it's in the User-Samtar project... I'm guessing there will be some sort of database query which could be run on (hopefully) a replica of the enwp db which will return similar deleted titles.
I've learnt the following:
@Miketorrwiki could you give us the web address of a page which you believe should have images on it?
Looking closer at the beta cluster (this section in particular) it appears it may not be suitable for development. I think we should still enable the schema there and use the above "how to verify events" section for some further testing. I'll see if there's somewhere we can use as a "development playground"
I'll take a look at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Analytics/EventLogging/TestingOnBetaCluster - looks like we'll need to be assigned root. How to verify events looks very useful!
FYI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth/Miketorrwiki - doesn't suggest the user has been on many projects (or at least, they weren't logged in if they did)
@Samwalton9 any thoughts? The beta cluster is apparently designed for this kinda stuff but we'd need to be a little more considerate - if we did have our own instance it would (hopefully!) be short lived and wouldn't take up too many resources and we could focus less on being considerate and more on getting to the root of the problem.
Investigating the possible options:
Done and pending for next month's newsletter
Per T157500's results I calculate 15.934065934065933% (or to be more reasonable, 16%) of English Wikipedia administrators have enabled two factor authentication
Sounds great :-)
@Samwalton9 given my poking around in relation to this, would it be alright with you/TWL if I pick this task up?
All been tried before I imagine, but for what it's worth nothing after 30+ minutes in a number of namespaces (user, user talk, article) as both a logged in and logged out user
[fingers crossed this is the last time I reopen this!] Completely my fault, I didn't realise I would need access to /etc/mysql/conf.d/research-client.cnf which is granted by researchers. I only need access to stat1003 and research-client.cnf and by the principle of least privilege researchers is the only appropriate user group. I've confirmed with @Samwalton9 that this would be allow access to the EventLogging data
@RobH looks like there may have been an issue with the patch. The above converted public key and the added key to https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/336875/3/modules/admin/data/data.yaml does not match.
On it! I'll get this sorted this evening
@RobH Awesome, thank you - firstname.lastname@example.org would be my preferred email to be listed
Personally I'm only interested in (and thus will only be requesting) the English Wikipedia
@Legoktm helpful! :-D either way, good to know it's been discussed/looked at elsewhere as well!
@DatGuy is this still needed per the IRC conversation the other day?
@Bawolff will do, I can't personally run the query so I'll ask whoever does just to read through this (providing the comments from other members of the team are positive) and only return a percentage
Self FYI - waiting on T157483
@MoritzMuehlenhoff Sure can - email@example.com
@RobH 'statistics-users' seems to be what I need! I'll assign this to Ocaasi for endorsement :-)
Just to note I've signed L3 :-)
On labs thing
Covering in T156566
Just to note, I'm currently testing CircleCI - at the moment it is only linting so some unit tests need the be written..
