Hi, I noticed this task was still open ...I've resurrected Brian's original patch and rewritten it from scratch to use modern MediaWiki DI (HtmlCacheUpdater) and QueryBuilders.
The new patch is up for review!

I would love to tackle this by adding the quickUserCan check in Hooks.php

HasSomeColours was actually fixed back in April 2025 (commit 044a866accf), but the commit didn't link to this ticket. All skins are completely done now, so this is good to be closed!
