I don't think there are any potential security issues by using variables and calculations. I think it should be allowed. Also, sometimes I may need to add styles for root elements, or at least the .mw-parser-output itself.

On zh-SG the script is not clear because in https://www.iana.org/assignments/language-subtag-registry/language-subtag-registry there is no Suppress-Script definition on zh or SG. Therefor zh-Hans-SG has to be used.

There's an issue with this extension tag. Sometimes it ignores -{H|rule}- rules when converting, no matter they are placed within or out of the tag.

Maybe yes. Who reported it is me. But what I reported is about Special:MyLanguage, the main content is that, when my language is zh-cn, Special:MyLanguage should redirect to /zh?variant=zh-cn. Maybe your guessing it correct, but I'm not good at English...

I found, on Chinese Wikipedia and so on Chinese webs in MediaWiki, anything in <source> tag and so on (except <source inline>) seem not to be converted (see here). Maybe it should be controled by attributing to tags like source, nowiki and pre. What's more, MediaWiki (namespace) pages seem not either, except viewing the MediaWiki page. It make admins or bots creat subpages with converted content.
