@Reedy ah OK. I will ask on the support forum how to get those features in line with Wikidata.
So what is the purpose of the CLDR extension then? What should i be able to do on my wiki-repo after installing it that i could not do before installing it?
@Reedy on the link https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:UniversalLanguageSelector#Installation under the heading "Updating LanguageNameIndex" this page reads:
"For performing cross language search, searching autonyms, language data needs to be populated. ULS comes with a pre-populated language name index(data/langnames.ser). In case you want to update it, install Extension:CLDR and update the data with the following command."
I have assumed this meant the 2 things Wikidata does in terms of cross-lange search that my wiki-repo does NOT do:
- gives cross-language results in the search box dropdown, eg . My settings are set to English, yet here I've searched for "organisatie", a Dutch word. The search dropdown here gives as the 4th result the English word organization with the Dutch word "organisatie" in brackets behind it. My wiki-repo does not do this.
- gives cross-language results in the search results, eg . Again, settings to English, I've searched for "organisatie", and the search results here give English results with the Dutch translation behind it. My wiki-repo does not do this. It does list the English item in the search results, but it does not list the Dutch translation behind it with "Dutch" in small italic letters superscript.
Just to note: in my own repo i do have the item "organization" both in English and with the Dutch translation "organisatie", just as on Wikidata.
thanks @Reedy . After installing this extension, is it correct that i should expect cross-language searching to become possible on my wiki-repo? The documentation mentions this. It is a great function on Wikidata.org i think, but after installing this extension it is not working yet on my wiki-repo.

hi, i am confused: i followed the instructions in the install guides you mention ([[ https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/plugins/gitiles/mediawiki/extensions/WikibaseQualityConstraints/+/REL1_34 | Gerrit ]]and GitHub). These instructions do not make mentions of a version number, so i guess i installed the master. COuld you advise on how to install the 1.34 version of WikibaseQualityConstraints?
hi, oh OK sorry i did not know about this. 2 follow up questions:
- What is the version of Wikibase and Wikimedia that WikibaseQualityConstraints is compatible with? I did not find a version on the description page of the extension.
- When is the expected date that WikibaseQualityConstraints will be updated to be compatible with Wikibase 1.34/? Is this known?
thanks for the help,
Rik
