The Thanks extension uses a uniqueId to identify which action is being thanked; DiscussionTools uses an ID of discussiontools-{$comment->getId()}, which will be distinct from the ID for any non-DiscussionTools thank.

The bug happens regardless of thank method order (it still happens if you thank normally first, and then thank through DiscussionTools).

It used to be possible to thank the same edit twice (T53303); this was fixed with a haveAlreadyThanked check.
