Hiya @SBurnett-WMF, going to cc @RLopez-WMF as this sounds like a UX issue!

Got it, thank you @Aklapper we'll try and make it work via the method above 👍

Just checked and yes, we have never used a first donation amount before in Acoustic, just first donation date.
If we did have such a field, I think it'd be more useful as both_funds_first_native_amount instead of being USD specific.

It is in my queue but we can close this task @AKanji-WMF. This will be applied as part of the larger Civi Mail refresh happening right now. Lars created this more as of a reminder + how to.
Jun 3 2026
Agreed not to update all these templates right now as:
We do this on some fundraising emails sent from Acoustic.
Jun 2 2026
Gotcha, appreciate the conditional snippet! Will include this when building out the new TY receipt template soon!
Oh dear you're right, that doc is old! Thanks for sharing the how-to on modifiers, looks like the way to go moving forwards.
Jun 1 2026
Hiya @Lars, did some work here but wanted your opinion before I update the actual templates.
May 30 2026
Thank you very much! We've switched entirely to both_funds... fields and it's made our DC much easier to maintain.
Thanks for the heads up @Lars
May 29 2026
Hey @MBeat33, I was informed about this from your Slack thread.
Apr 28 2026
Fascinating find @jgleeson, thank you so much for figuring it out!
Apr 22 2026
Thank you for discovering this @Lars. I've gone ahead and made updates to that specific template so that both_funds... fields are used.
Much appreciated @Lars !
Apr 10 2026
Super helpful @Lars , I'll make sure no DC Ruleset of ours uses these anymore
Mar 2 2026
Thanks for all the work here @Ejegg , much appreciated!
Feb 27 2026
Oh I see now! I was too hasty when I read your syntax example. Thanks for flagging!
Thanks @Ejegg for the clarification! We do use that syntax in other templates so we're comfortable with it ;) e.g.
Feb 26 2026
Thank you @Ejegg! I've taken a stab at this, viewable in the template you shared https://civicrm.wikimedia.org/civicrm/admin/messageTemplates?reset=1#/edit?id=573 .
Regarding frequency, I've seen this variable available in other templates contribution_recur.frequency_unit so I figured I could also use contribution_recur_old.frequency_unit and contribution_recur_new.frequency_unit. The latter two don't seem to be available though.
Thanks for the update here! I'll reply back if I'm facing any issues
Feb 18 2026
Hey @TomaszGorski, want to bring Elliott's comment above to your attention regarding further translations. Is this doable?
Feb 17 2026
Hey @Ejegg! Thankfully we landed on amounts 1, 3 and 5 for EUR regardless of country. I'll update the Recurring Upgrade Amounts sheet to reflect that now clearly.
Hey @Dwisehaupt , thank you for sending over my new certificate. Confirming I've installed it correctly and everything's up and running.
Hey @NNgu-WMF , not a blocker! We’re discussing potential improvements to the Civi Mailing editor. I’m not entirely sure from your reply whether the templates need to be active for QA, so I’ll err on the side of caution and keep them as drafts. That said, they’re fully ready to if you want to switch them to Active by pressing Activate Draft

Donate Link
Wondering what will be tokenized regarding the donate link? Different mailings may have other parameter values. Taking these two mailings as an example there's an extra _2 for wmf_source
Feb 11 2026
Hi team! I've had a go here with editing both templates in Civi. All work is currently in draft mode.

Again, much appreciated, you seem to resolve these at lightning speed! @Lars

Much appreciated @Lars !!

Hiya @KHancock99 and everyone, jumped in here and made some edits based on your comments.

Thank you @Lars for the context. Just want to leave some breadcrumbs I've found on various forums on this topic that might be helpful later on.

Hey @Ejegg ! Linguists have noted a better translation for es-419 in the specific sentence we were talking about.
Nov 27 2025
Thank you so much @Ejegg ! We'll be submitting all three components (donate, payments and Thank you pages) to localization team for a language check.
Nov 25 2025
Thanks @Ejegg! Sorry if I've sent you down a rabbit hole with the Sender name. Please disregard that request. We can keep it as it currently is "Wikimedia Foundation".
I think it would pose an unnecessary challenge to be able to localize the Sender name for each language cause of the wording. e.g.
Exactly! None of the markup was changed on donate.wiki, only content, alt and aria-label attributes.
Hey @Ejegg! I hopped into template "WMF Annual recurring pre-notification" to make some markup + copy edits according to this content document.

Appreciate it @Ejegg ! Glad to hear the quirk is not from our side 👍 bummer though for users with your setup, hope it doesn't affect many people.
Nov 10 2025
Hey @Ejegg! I tried replicating your issue but with no luck unfortunately. Hopefully others won't experience this but if it indeed becomes an issue, we'll sort it out.
Nov 6 2025
Oh that sounds odd, thanks for detailing Elliott. I've also noticed some mobile quirks that have to do with colors as well. My aim is to send you some fixes here by tomorrow the latest. I'll try and replicate what you mentioned see if I can fix that too.

Sharing a no tracking, minimal link here that displays WP25 for donate.wiki and payments.wiki:
Yes the light blue background is intentional from @RLopez-WMF . We also agreed with @RLopez-WMF that the puzzle border got a bit too tricky for payments.wiki and we're happy with how it looks by default.
Oct 29 2025
Much appreciated, @Ejegg! Could you share the value we'd be passing to pym_variant to land on this WP25 payments.wiki page?
I've gone for additive, should have mentioned! Use all existing inline styles that were initially provided and then append my latest tweaks.
Hey @Ejegg , sharing with you some CSS tweaks to make the appeal render better on payment.wiki

I have now applied the snooze_end_date criteria in each check node for all currently active RML programs.
I think you raise a very good point @Lars! RML programs have entry criteria but I forgot you can add logic to next-step/exit nodes further within the Program.
Oct 22 2025
Hey @Ejegg, just had a conversation with our team on this. We agreed that if it ends up being too difficult to recreate this 1:1 in payments.wiki, we'd be fine with adopting simpler design elements. Such as
Oct 21 2025
Passing hpcCurrency is not an instruction to donate.wiki that says "Change currency to X". hpcCurrency's value is compared against the currency donate.wiki generates (which is dictated by country).
I know what happened in this case and I've let DR know in an Issue Tracker spreadsheet that we use internally too.
Oct 20 2025
You're the best, thank you so much @Lars !
Hey all! I've completed the donate.wiki part of this WP25 design, you can see it here: https://donate.wikimedia.org/?appeal=WP25
Oct 15 2025
Oh wow, this is hyper speed, thank you so much @Lars ! And yes we were after the three letter code so all good! We're gonna be trying this out very soon for sure
Oct 3 2025
Hey @SHust , I've added in the following criteria in our active RML programs:

My Acoustic RML <--> Civi knowledge wasn't that up to date until I digged into this phab. But...
