The ERI features being added to RC Page will be added as a beta feature on [[ https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Objective_Revision_Evaluation_Service#Support_table | wikis for which the relevant two ORES tests are available ]]. On the selected wikis, the ORES feature will be broadened to reflect the fact that it now includes improved filtering.
There will be two basic methods for signing up for the beta feature:
# Opt in via the beta preferences page
# Opt in on the RC page.
=1: Opting in via the beta preferences page=
There are two elements to this workflow:
# Implement a renamed, reworded and redesigned the beta feature option
# Show an a message on the RC page introducing the new features.
===Implement the revised beta page opt-in in preferences===
Essentially, the "new" beta is actually the old ORES opt in, but with a new title, description and graphic (and new features on RC page, of course).
- This means that all the current ORES beta subscribers will continue as subscribers to the "new" beta feature.
- Only wikis that get the RC page improvements (T150715) will show the new beta name and language.
- On other wikis that have ORES, to whatever extent they do, ORES will continue to work as it does now, and the beta opt-in will continue as now.
- Find the new opt-in text at T149385, under "Beta preferences opt-in text" (the new feature name is "**New filters for edit review**.")
- The description will include a link to the Recent Changes page.
- It will also include a link to the ORES page here, https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Objective_Revision_Evaluation_Service
- The "Information" link (see design below) will go to the mediawiki page https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Edit_Review_Improvements/Filters_for_Special:Recent_Changes
- The "Discussion" link (see below) will go to the talk page for the same mediawiki page.
- A new graphical icon has been designed for the beta opt-in -- see a a screenshot below.

===Show a message on the RC page introducing the new features.===
When a user who has opted in to the beta feature gets to the updated Recent Changes page for the first time, an introductory message is provided. This applies to: 1) new users who opt in, 2) users who previously opted in to the ORES beta, on the first time after beta release that they visit RC page, 3) everyone, should the beta become standard. This feature is particularly important for existing ORES users, who won't have explicitly seen information about the RC page features and may not connect the new filters with their previous ORES opt in.
- The user dismisses the message by clicking the "OK, got it" button.
- This message should not be shown to that user after that. Ideally, showing it only once for any wiki, but at last showing it no more than once per wiki (if the lack of cross-wiki settings makes the former too complex technically).
- See a screenshot of the introductory message below.

=2: Opting in via the RC page=
During the beta phase, the new Recent Changes filters can be enabled from the Recent Changes page itself. There are two elements to this feature:
- A popover opt-in invitation.
- A popover confirmation.
===The popover opt-in invitation===
{F4827209}
- After the beta is implemented, when a user who has not already opted in to the beta visits the RC page for the first time, a popover will appear pointing to the "beta" link in the personal toolbar (see illustration).
-- If the beta link is not present in some wiki, the popover can point to the preferences link instead.
- Users can enable the beta feature in just one click.
- A "Learn more" link is provided that goes to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Edit_Review_Improvements/Filters_for_Special:Recent_Changes
- @Pginer-WMF !!please describe new features for "Don't show me this again" (or whatever) and option to dismiss, as discussed today. Also update the graphic with same.!!
- The image used in the panel will be animated. A non-looping animated Gif for the animation is available at F5053416
===The popover confirmation===
After the user accepts, another popover will act as a confirmation and inform about the beta feature page to be the place to provide feedback (and disable the beta feature). In this case, the popover will vanish automatically after a few seconds.
