Short: On <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fruit>
the Plantanos demo shows up. We'd like to avoid that.
At
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Template#Redirection>
is description of a template as a "redirect". However, on
the same page
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Template#A_category_ta
g_in_a_template.3B_caching_problem> mentions that the
categories are inherited when a page/template is include
in this way. And indeed, the example of Plantanos has a
category fruit
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fruit>, which is
polluted by the Planatos Demo. Apparently, to stop this
from occuring, we'd have to stop the inheritence of the
categories for the including page.
On nl: we have a
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:TourBusStop>
bustour project
<http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:TourBus_-
_Bushalte_Wikipedia_NL>, that we would like to implement
similar to such redirects, since that's the only way we
can find that doesn't require modifying the original page.
However, we can't do that if it'll cause the busstops to
appear in the categories.
Our intended purpose does not require any specific
implementation. A __NOCAT__ keyword, a
{{_nocat_|normaltemplate}} meta-template, or a
{{normaltemplat|_nocat_}} standard-argument would all
suffice.
