As part of the exploration of Section Translation entry points, we want to surface sections available in other languages as an invite to translate them. An automatic translation will be provided for readerswhen viewing the article to getboth (a) provide some understanding about parts of the topic not covered in their language, and they will be invited to improve it(b) invite to expand the article with the new sections by entering the translation process.
Audience:
- Main: Potential editors. Readers that didn't know it was possible to contribute or that knew it but didn't feel encouraged before.
- Secondary: Experienced editors looking for sections to translateways to improve an article.
Goals:
- Provide readers access to knowledge that they could not access otherwise.
- Make it clear that the translation is automatic and not part of the community-created content
- Encourage users to expand the article by reviewing and contributing a section.
- Provide adequate guidance considering that most readers may have no previous experience contributing.
- Respect user preferences. Allow to opt-out, indicate which language to translate from and which translation service to use.
