Donor Portal: Change Payment Type Flow
- Enabling recurring donation supporters to change their payment type is a requirement of the donor portal
- Based on existing launch timelines, FR-Tech recommends launching this functionality as a phase 2 feature - it is complex to implement and will require changes in our payments stack [more notes here].
- In the meantime, we suggest implementing a manual workaround - it could look something like this:
- On the portal home page, we’d add a link to “edit” next to “credit card: visa”
- This would open up a modal with copy along the lines of:
- “Coming soon: we are working on enabling changing your payment details in the donor portal directly. In the meantime, if you need to change your payment method (including updating your credit card), please follow these steps:
1) cancel your current recurring gift here <link>, and then 2) use this link to start a new recurring gift with us”
