When users search for a subject, Article Guidance may show an existing Wikidata item. If they do not select that result and choose **Pick a type instead**, the manual type flow does not use the Wikidata result that was already shown. Some article types require the subject to exist on Wikidata. For these types, Article Guidance can incorrectly say **You can create this type of article only for subjects with a Wikidata entry** and offer **Add this subject to Wikidata**, even though the subject already exists there. This is confusing because the search results and the warning give the user conflicting information. The action also opens Wikidata’s new-item form instead of helping the user use the existing item.

# Open `Special:NewArticle`.
# Search for `Broader autism phenotype`.
# Confirm that `Q140133556` appears in the results.
# Do not select the result. Choose **Pick a type instead**.
# Select **Medical Condition**, which requires a Wikidata item.
# Observe the Wikidata warning and **Add this subject to Wikidata** action.
