As an organizer, I want to be able to generate a list of editors who may be interested in joining my event, so that I can then invite them and have more people attend my events.
As an editor, I want to learn about editing events that focus on my topics of interest, so that I can use my skills and knowledge for a worthwhile cause or initiative and so that I can connect with people and communities that share my interests.
**Background:** As part of our [[ https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Campaigns/Foundation_Product_Team/Event_Discovery | Event Discovery ]] work, we are working on anwe plan to develop an MVP of Event Invitations project. With Event Invitations, we want to help event organizers reach out to new audiences of editors who may be interested in their eventse made this decision after first conducting an experiment on the potential impact of Event Invitations and the potential interest that organizers would have in using such a tool ([[ https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Campaigns/Foundation_Product_Team/Event_Discovery#April_16,_2024 | see findings ]]). This way, we hypothesize that more people can register for events and make impactful contributions. We wrapped up the experiment with the conclusion that we would like to build a simple MVP of Event Invitations.
With Event Invitations, To do this,we want to help event organizers reach out to new audiences of editors who may be interested in their events. we plan to generate an Invitation ListThis way, which is a list of editors who the organizer can invitewe hypothesize that more people can register for events and make impactful contributions. Now that we have wrapped up the Event Invitations experimentTo do this, we want to create a simple MVP that allows organizers to generateill generate an Invitation Lists for themselvesst, without needing the help of the Campaigns product teamwhich is a list of editors who the organizer can choose to invite to their event.
For the Event Invitations MVP, we will not provide support for messaging editors (so that organizers can invite them to events) or many other potential feature improvements. However, feature improvements will be considered after the MVP release, and they are documented in T364796.
**Project Goal:** Develop an MVP for Event Invitations, so that users with the Event Organizer right on Wikipedia wikis where the CampaignEvents extension is enabled can generate Invitation Lists. This way, we can a) help organizers reach new audiences, so they can get more people join their events and make contributions on high impact topics along with other general interest topics, we canand b) get an early version out to users so they can begin testing it and providing feedback on how to improve it. We should focus on delivering something usable and useful, but perfection is not the goal.
**Timeline:** We would like to try to build an MVP for Event Invitations within about 8 weeks (i.e., 4 sprints). This does not include the release, but rather focuses on the main engineering work. If this is not possible, we can discuss trimming the scope or the timeline. This is something to discuss with the team.
