Currently, we completely ignore precisions in “range” and “difference within range” constraints. If we want to do better, we’ll have to answer some tricky questions: - Is 1 July 2017 within the range 2015-2017? - Is 1980s within the range 1973-1984? - Is 5 April 1600 (Julian) within the range 1 April 1600 - 10 April 1600? - What is the difference between “3rd century” and “4th century”? Should it really depend on the timestamps stored in the data value, so that identically rendered values can behave differently? (Reported by @doctaxon.)
