Sharing is a common action, especially on mobile devices. While Android and iOS have their own platform-specific icons, for KaiOS there was a need for a generic "share" icon which was not available among [[ https://design.wikimedia.org/style-guide/visual-style_icons.html | our icons ]].

The arrow pointing forward (right or left depending on language direction) has been a common shape used for sharing in many popular web products.
