=DRAFT=
Concept below is work in progress. Flow charts and uploads to Zeplin will follow after this has been discussed with the Android team and reviewed by WMF design.
---
==WHY ARE WE DOING THIS==
Encourage Android app users to start editing by presenting them with more opportunities to make ‘micro-contributions’ to the app.
==USER STORY==
As a Multilingual Wikipedia user: when I have proven myself as an editor of good standing, I want to be shown more images requiring translations, so that I can grow my contributions to Wikipedia.
---
==EDITING CAPTIONS IN THE APP==
{F28789841}
- We’ll show structured file captions for images in the app (when available).
- Structured file captions are editable
- When there’s no structured file caption available for a file, we show unstructured (aka “moderately structured“) captions, without the possibility to edit to avoid copyright infringements.
- **To discuss:** Display call to action to translate a description if users have set multiple languages in the app.

- Unlock criteria:
- User have set multiple languages in the app
- 50 translated (title) descriptions
- Card information architecture (output as plain text), from [Commons file page](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ada_Lovelace_portrait.jpg)
- File name
- Unstructured (aka “moderately structured“) file captions in “From” language that don’t have any structured captions yet. Why should we use unstructured data as a source? Because we’d increase the pool of structured data captions.
- **To discuss:** Preferably, we are displaying captions that are associated with Wikipedia articles. After all, it’s the *Wikipedia* Android app (according to @Mholloway, indexing will take several weeks, so this is more something for version 2)
- Author, if not available, display Artist
- Date
- Source
- [Show more structured data based on available space)
- Images are displayed in 16:9 ratio
- Tapping the card leads editors to the Translate image caption screen
- Snack bar at the bottom of the screen allows users to look up details of a file.
- Tapping “Details“ leads users to the file page on Commons within the Wikipedia app. The page is currently usable, but not more.
- **Recommendation/To discuss:** Push responsible people to improve the design of the Commons file page so that not only Android profits from it (one T221895). Best to set up a meeting with the responsible people.
