**Steps to replicate the issue** (include links if applicable):
* Open the Vector 2022 search, and throttle your connection to "Slow 3G"
* Type a letter (e.g. "t"). Wait for results to appear
* Type another letter (e.g. "tr"). Wait for results to appear.
* Hit backspace (so you're back at "t"), wait about half a second, then hit backspace again (so the input is empty) and quickly type another letter ("u")
**What happens?**:
Results for "t" appear, and are then replaced with results for "u"
**What should have happened instead?**:
The results for "t" shouldn't appear while the search input contains "u". Only the results for "u" should appear (once they're ready).
