We just say the page is protected, and then dump the long log for the protection. Not sure why it's needed at all for most cases, but would like to propose an option to turn it off. The only editors who will see it are the ones who can edit the page anyway, and semi-protection is not quite a big deal to have to be aware about (besides, we have the lock icons too). For mobile, in /includes/ApiVisualEditor.php, this can be added as a configuration option to line 318. That way, individual wikis will be able to hide this.
