When translating an existing article, Content Translation provides users with the options to override the existing content or publish the translation as a draft in the user namespace. However, those options are only presented once the user clicked on publish. That may be preventing users from translating parts of existing articles (e.g., to incorporate them to the existing content).
When translating existing pages (and only in those cases) we can:
- Change the "Publish translation" label to become "Publish translation as..." that will convey the idea that there will be options behind the button. For other cases, the button will remain as "Publish translation".
- Adjust the warning shown about the title to convey the idea: "A page with the title X exists in the target wiki. You can rename it, or decide whether to override the existing content or not when publishing."
