- Basemaps: Global and also regional sources. Sources should be maintained in the local wikibase. --> Create a ticket for that.
- Map layers UI design similar to images: Similar design for grid, similar menus for actions, display in the ImageViewer but with map tools. Upload similarly to Wikimedia Commons.
- External geodata: Read shapes from external repositories, saving them in Wikimedia Commons or Open Historical Map or elsewhere in the context of the topic. Display data overlays (which ones, how are they linked, stored etc). Allow users to verify and curate the data. T261563
- Collections: Allow users to find and link data sources to topics. This could take place within "projects", shared broader topics with an editor community consisting of individuals and organisations. Maybe also possible for a single user...
- Mapstories (wikidocumentaries) Create narrative sequences including geographic materials and location data.
- Create a verification process to add subareas to Wikidata.
