Since we are making good progress on Map Improvements 2018, it seems worthwhile and safe to release mapframe to most of the Wikipedias that don't currently have it. We will consult these wikipedias, allowing any which have an issue with this plan to opt out of the implementation. =Who WILL get mapframe? - All Wikipedias who do NOT use Flagged Revisions. - The small set of Wikipedias which have Flagged Revs, but which have [[ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Flagged_revisions#Projects_that_apply_FlaggedRevs | implemented it using the so-called "English approach" ]] The English approach" means that on these wikis, an admin must apply Flaggged Revs selectively to individual pages. Some wikis that use this approach already have mapframe, and are using it: ru—Russian, mk-Macedonian, zh—Classical Chinese, fi—Finnish. These wikis will be unaffected. The small set of Flagged Rev wikis who WILL get the feature because they a) don't have it yet and b) are "English-style" are: **Enlish-style Flagged Revs wikis (that don't already have mapframe)** - Bengali - English (consulted and to be released separately, see T187931) - Persian - Hindi - Portuguese =Who WILL NOT get mapframe? Our investigations into this issue T151665 have determined that there are various flavors of Flagged Revisions. One style ( $wgFlaggedRevsOverride = false) still shows users the most recent edit; this does not cause problems. The other style, best known for being the style used on German Wikipedia, hides the latest version of an article until the edit has been reviewed and approved ( $wgFlaggedRevsOverride = true).
