Filters in Recent Changes allow users to pick the number of results to display. Users are able to select different sizes provided as links:

As captured in T159444, similar pages provide a different set of options for controlling the results to be displayed. The goal is to provide an integrated solution that does not get int he way of the main activity (filtering and reviewing the results).
# Proposed solution
Having a drop-down menu aligned to the right side can provide a good balance between keeping the options discoverable without getting in the way of the main actions. In addition, a separate panel provides dedicated room when needed:

A control to select different number of results is provided for users.
We can also consider to support users to adjust the sorting (as it happens in User Contributions page) and whether the list gets new results automatically (similar to [[ https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/RTRC | RTRC ]]).
