The current languages dropdown requires manual listing of the languages. These can be replaced by Language List Populator and thus be automated. For JS-enabled users ULS can be implemented. However, this dropdown would be required for users who don't have JS enabled. Therefore making the list of languages in the dropdown not-manual would be a good move.
