The definitions for metrics listed on https://metrics.wmflabs.org/metrics/ are written in a technical way for the sake of precision. This is fine, as long as there's also a plain-language version available that users can find (see related @T93659). In some cases the definitions at [[https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Metrics_standardization|Research:Metrics_standardization]] could be supplemented with accurate but simpler definitions (with examples) in learning patterns.
Some metrics, like bytes added, have direct analogues in a specific [[https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Learning_patterns/Calculating_global_metrics|Global metrics learning pattern]], but others like [[ https://metrics.wmflabs.org/metrics/#RollingActiveEditor | rolling active editor ]] don't. These metrics need a plain language definition. More learning patterns is probably the way to go here.
