We've [[ http://git.wikimedia.org/blob/mediawiki%2Fextensions%2FCentralNotice.git/HEAD/resources%2Fsubscribing%2Fext.centralNotice.bannerHistoryLogger.js#L154 | written a workaround ]] in CentralNotice for the arbitrary message length truncation (T91347) affecting client-side EventLogging. Ideally, we'd be free to choose any reasonable message size, and EventLogging should include a continuation mechanism that kicks off transparently when we risk going over the truncation limit du jour. This would improve our data quality and decrease calling code complexity.
