The global function `wfShowingResults` is only used in a single place, the SemanticMediaWiki extension's QueryPage class. I suggest deprecating and removing the core method, with SemanticMediaWiki replacing it with the one line of code directly. The SemanticMediaWiki extension is not hosted on gerrit, and so it will be up to the extension's maintainers to update their code.
