On most wikis, new, or "unseen", changes on Watchilist are indicated by boldface of the page title. The English Wikipedia community, however, elected to override this and to institute a system that uses a blue dot in the left margin for seen changes and a bright green (3D) dot for unseen changes. This system poses a problem now that Collaboration Team is extending the [[ https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Edit_Review_Improvements/New_filters_for_edit_review | New Filters for Edit Review ]] UX to Watchlist.
The New Filters uses colored dots in the left margin to indicate what colors of highlighting have been applied to edits. Testing shows users find these dots very helpful, particularly when multiple colors have been applied to a particular edit, as in the example below.

Any number of options could resolve this conflict. En.wiki could go back to boldfacing. They could simply use the highlighting provided by the New Filters in combination with the new "Unseen changes" filter. Or we offer a solution below that makes a minimal change to the existing New Filters dots, indicating seen/unseen by means of dots that are, respectively, outlined or filled in. This has the advantage of being similar with the use of filled/hollow dots in Notifications to similarly indicate seen vs. unseen states.
