I am not grasping or understanding these types (ctrl+F/^F searching for "extension" shows 0 results other than something about Sprint Extension), but I see one of the types is called "Tag" and the PhotoSwipe extension for MediaWiki implements a new tag to be used in wikitext markup. https://mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Creating_and_renaming_projects mentions "extension" a few times though.
