(an editor transitioning to moderator) * representations of wiki-backlogs, your own contributions, how did I help?, something like a github streak, 'read marks' like in IM apps, list of backlogs for things that needs to be worked on, deletions that need to be closed (for deletion discussions, you don't have to be a moderator - anyone can comment - but if no one comments, it's hard to close it), pop-up dialog / notification "you've made somemanual reverrts, would you like to learn about cancelling edits / becoming a rollbacker?', backlogs ordered by easy to hard so new users have an easier time starting, like suggested edits - but suggested moderation actions. impact modules on the home page for motivation, "gerrit streak" - don't want to lose your streak - so you do more. where the user noticed that something was moderated - and the moderator gets a notification that it was seen, or when someone writes to the user talk page - we don't know if the user actually read it "your message was read" - might not be technically possible. experiementing with suggested edits right now - we'll see if it's useful or not, might be promising as it's difficult for a reader to find what to do - so many entry points. having suggestions / nudges would be useful and fun. prospective moderators don't really know what they want to do - nudging them would be good, maybe suggest something to them on their previous edits - nudge them again and offer a slightly different direction for them to continue to make contributions (based on their previous contributions). newcomer home page has a bunch of recommended edits to do - maybe something like that would be good for suggested actions to take as a moderator. if flagged revisions are on, could have a carosel of articles for them to review. moderators don't want to patrol *all* the articles but ones that I like to do (that I know more about). Q: how to limiting moderation to limited access based on the user? (conversation somewhere on wiki) == Questions == * Q about moderators and what they can do: still really broad definition, but we're working on it * Q from someof the proposals in the deck, I really liked the newcomer come - the layout of the mockup was nice to introduce it to new moderators, a home page. Home pages like that are nice to have, a central place of central places. how can we work with the different layouts - how can we choose from them? does it make sense to replace the existing modules just for newcomers? * A: we don't want to have another page to confuse people, we are trying to make it more simple, to be less overwhelming and showcase what is useful * Q: will there be 'lessons' on how to learn this or just some hints on how to make it through the page.
