Already in 2016, the dewiki community voted by a large margin against introducing this obnoxious feature on that wiki: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meinungsbilder/Mehr_erfahren#Ergebnis and there is no reason to assume that this general consensus has somehow dematerialized in the meantime. So there is absolutely no basis for the WMF to force-enable this extension on dewiki, as happend yesterday. I ask for an immediate reversal.

Some projects probably don't care, but several definitely do (such as dewp), and we probably want what we set in the config to, well, //apply//, regardless, as this will allow any relevant discussions about changing the config to likewise apply. Evidently caused by the default value being set as an empty array in the extension as part of T181242, and wmf-config getting tripped up by that.
