disable mailman list
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Talked with @mark. See below.

<JohnFLewis> it's a quick question anyway - the mailman list has a bunch of moderated emails (1k+) and was wondering what you'll like to do with it? (since you're the listadmin and so, mailman emails refer to it as a 'email here for help' so)
<mark> toss em all
<mark> i never ever look at that list and have no intention of doing so :P
<JohnFLewis> and for the future; just drop all emails by default then?
<JohnFLewis> technically, 'disable' it :)
<mark> works for me
<JohnFLewis> okay, phab ticket coming up then

deleted all held messages on list "mailman". let's talk about the disabling procedure though for this one. are we sure it's not needed as it's the meta sitelist?

It's used as the origination email for things like bounces, password reminders and so on. It exists mostly as a 'method users can use to communicate with site administrators'. Since @mark is the only one with it and he's said he has no intention of doing so, its fine to just disable it. A better case would be a reject notice telling people to file phab tickets if they have questions/issues however just a stop gate.

"mailman disabled. Archives should be available at current location, all mail should be moderated and the list should not be on the listinfo page."
