Need to switch logo on w:mr
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Hello,

Marathi Wikipedia hit the 50,000 articles milestone on 22nd December. We have created and uploaded a version of logo to celebrate this. The new version is uploaded with the same name (Wiki.png). Can we please get help in switching to this logo on w:mr for the next few weeks?

Thank you

If this request is misdirected, please let me know asap so I can look for help in other places.

Event Timeline

Hello,

all projects run by the Wikimedia Foundation uses logo from server configuration. Wiki.png is no longer used as the source of logo. Wikis can still ask for anniversary logos by a) asking on Phabricator (as you're doing) or b) editing MediaWiki:Common.css, see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Common.css&diff=688516426&oldid=686648742 as enwiki example. Feel free to notify me (my Wiki username is 'Martin Urbanec') if you need help with this.

I would be more than happy to assist with this request for anniversary logo for mrwiki. Unfortunately, we have a code freeze right now due to US holidays. The code freeze will be released on Tuesday, January 02, 14:00 UTC. No patches until then can be merged&deployed except emergencies.

As we cannnot do anything for you right now I'm closing this task as invalid. Hoping you'll find a way how to accomplish what you want by using on-wiki tools.

Best,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Do I need to create another request after January 2nd?
Seems a bit inconvenient that we can't change logos at appropriate time on account of a code freeze but I suppose rules are rules.

You're welcome. The code freeze do not prevent you from using anniversary logos. Just get your local wiki sysop and edit MediaWiki:Common.css (example of edit is at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Common.css&diff=688516426&oldid=686648742). As soon as you would like to use the normal logo, just revert the edit you just made. As editing of MediaWiki:Common.css do not require any actions from the system administrators, you are not required to create any requests other than those to local sysops.
