Also, is covid-19 really an applicable tag here? I believe that this is relating to the protected/COI edit templates, correct? If so, it's not solely related to COVID-19, and the tag should be removed, in my opinion.

It appears this task is proposing that a new workflow be introduced that makes it possible for people to mark an edit request [i] as being resolved/addressed/etc. without needing to know about or interact with wikitext.
