cron spam from cloudcontrol2004-dev.wikimedia.org
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Starting from Wed, Dec 23, 2020, 8:17 PM UTC, cloudcontrol2004-dev.wikimedia.org is sending an email to root@ every hour (374 so far and counting) with:

run-parts: /etc/cron.hourly/keystone exited with return code 2

Restricted Application added a subscriber: Aklapper. · View Herald Transcript

This seems to be caused by the new version of keystone not supporting the command the cron is running (https://bugs.launchpad.net/keystone/+bug/1759289).

Hi @dcaro @aborrero, is anyone working on this?

I did set a priority (and I'm removing the SRE tag, which... I can't figure why would be there).

Hi, yes, @abogott is working on it, see the task arturo pointed to, shouldn't take long to get addressed, if this is very critical for you don't hesitate to tell us why and we'll give it higher priority (and/or work around it if needed).

This was an unpuppetized cron job which somehow didn't get cleaned up on that host when we removed it on the other cloudcontrols. I rm'd it by hand, that should be the end of it. Sorry for the noise!
