Maps - rearchitecting of Maps Stack to improve stability and reliability
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The Product Infrastructure Team is proposing an update to the Maps Stack architecture to improve its stability and reliability. The plans are currently under review by SRE separately but we would like it go through the new Tech Decision Making Process so all possible stakeholders have a chance to look at this and provide any relevant feedback.

@MSantos and @Jgiannelos are the leads on this project.

This task might partially overlap with / should depend on T267339?

Additionally, maybe this overlaps / is a duplicate of T271630? Please connect tasks so task dependencies are clearer and conversations less fragmented. Thanks.

This phab task exists solely for the purpose of review as part of the new Technical Decision Making Process where step 1 is to file a phab task tagged with tech-decision-forum. So, this is not a dupe of other tasks. But, I will add appropriate links.

(publicly viewable gdoc - please use this phab task for comments)

Mostly asking since this is a new process...is using proprietary Google JavaScript going to be a requirement to participate in the tech-decision-forum / the MediaWiki architecture process? If the document is read-only why can't it be on mediawiki.org or elsewhere?

This is still early in the process, but I believe there are plans to create Phabricator templates and have all that content live here (cc @kchapman). But as for this ticket, I can inline this information into phab at a later point unless someone else gets to it before me. No reason to move to MediaWiki right now unless the plan is for all these review decisions to live there.

@ssastry thanks for putting this in, going to slide back one column to the inbox so we can prioritize this and get you slated for an upcoming meeting. We should have this figured out NLT than early next week

Sounds good. Sorry about cutting the line. I misunderstood what the columns meant.

@Jenlenfantwright: If something was published, where to find this? Could you provide a link please? Thanks.
