DMarc Email Address for Wikimedia.org
Open, MediumPublic

Description

Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):
I would like to have access to dmarc-rua@wikimedia.org

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):
Right now if I look at our DMARC record it says P = None which means that our DMARC record is not being checked when we send mass emails. This could mean that more of our email is being sent to spam box instead of going into the inbox. Also some email service providers are not recognizing us actually being Wikipedia (Wikimedia) and will not render our logos.

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):
Having access to this email address will allow me to run some reports that could potentially improve how our email render on certain email service providers. It also allows me to manage our reputation with email service providers.

dmarc-rua@ is an alias for dmarc@donate.wikimedia.org

donate.wikimedia.org mail is routed to the fundraising-tech's CiviCRM system.

While it's possible to also insert another address before it's being sent there I would recommend first checking with fr-tech if CiviCRM access fixes this.

I think it makes sense to add Danny to the alias for dmarc-rua@wikimedia.org. The address dmarc@donate.wikimedia.org received both the dmarc reports for @wikimedia.org plus dmarc/arf/etc for @donate.wikimedia.org, which is mostly donation receipt thank-you letters we send from civicrm.

I wonder about the dmarcian.com forwarding also receiving the @wikimedia.org stuff, is anyone using dmarcian any longer?

@Jgreen Alright, gotcha! In that case can we move the alias into the section that says managed by fr-tech and you guys handle edits to it?

Is there an owner for non-fundraising mail feedback?

@Jgreen I am not sure but let's ask for input from Infra Foundations.

T86209 is relevant, we do appear to still be sending dmarc-ruf@ to dmarcian, although I don't know who has access to it.

I was able to log into the "wikimedia" dmarcian account and determine that the subscription expired, so I sent a query to sales@dmarician.com to see how much it would cost per month or per year to re-subscribe.

I think reactivating this is probably the simplest solution, that way we can just add a user to get you access to the DMARC reporting.

Jgreen added a project: fundraising-tech-ops.
Jgreen moved this task from Triage to In Progress on the fundraising-tech-ops board.

@Jgreen It looks to me like this is no longer an SRE access request; are you OK with me removing that tag, please?

Hi all. Trying to follow along as best possible. Can someone give me an update if someone has been able to give me acess to the DMARC email. English language campaign is coming down the pike and I would love to get this DMARC issue resolved as quickly as possible.

Update for posterity: we have reactivated a Dmarcian test account and provided access, and are looking at where to go from there.
