Server HTTPs errors prevent uploads on LrMediaWiki
Open, Stalled, Needs TriagePublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

  • When uploading multiple files with the LrMediaWiki plugin for Adobe Lightroom, an unknown HTTP error appears. Have a look at the screenshot.
  • It is very likely that this is once again a server issue when uploading photos.

What happens?:

  • The uploads get stuck.
  • The same issue reoccurs each time multiple files will be uploaded.

What should have happened instead?:

  • Tools like LrMediaWiki should compliment file-limited MediaWiki upload functions like UploadWizard.

Software version (skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):

Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):

  • As far as the bug reporter knows, other multi-file upload tools experience such server issues as well.

There's not enough information from the error message to be able to know what the error is, or even to try and debug it...

I don't know how much scope the plugin has for reporting more debug information, but that would be helpful for a start. HTTP-Status erhalten, with erhalten is receive... Basically tells us nothing. We can't control what the plugin and/or Lightroom decide to display for errors.

Ideally, if it could output some sort of debug log for HTTP requests... That'd be a lot more useful.

Also, some sort of timestamp/time range for when the error happens to help comb any logs on the Wikimedia side to help correlate.

Yes, a more specific error message I would appreciate, too. But this is nothing what I could change...

The time was 1:57 CEST 22.09.2022, or 23:57 UTC 21.09.2022. User name is Stepro.

File a request with the author of the plugin? https://github.com/Hasenlaeufer/LrMediaWiki/issues

My upload crashed again at the 2nd file. I now attach the complete log file of the plugin, with removed password of course.

next upload, next abort - this time at least only after 21 photos{F35573363}

I can only deliver what is there: screenshot of the error message, log file, timestamps.
Unfortunately, I can't think of the technical processes that lead to the termination.

@Stepro: ...and we cannot debug or investigate if the code and behavior of LrMediaWiki offers no hints what goes wrong. :(
Again: Please file a request with the author of the plugin to allow debugging at https://github.com/Hasenlaeufer/LrMediaWiki/issues/ - thanks a lot!

Debugging is allowed already. For a debug file see above: LrMediaWikiLogger.log.

@Aklapper I just ran into this problem again.

And it's really a pain that it takes hours to upload some photos, as it's absolutely unforeseeable when this error appears after several minutes of processing.

Therefore it would be realy great, if somebody how is responsible for the API would investigate the Logs @Stepro and @Hasenlaeufer (who maintains LrMediaWiki Plugin) posted above.

The logs unfortunately don't show anything of use; the last request in both logs show the request succeeded.

If the logs contained the request that apparently failed, both what request was made, and the error message etc, it'd give more of a chance to be able to look into it!
