Better swift error messages for projects with invalid chars

Description

Old projects with - in their name won't work with Swift. Right now that manifests as "Error: Unable to get the Swift container listing."

We should be able to detect invalid project ids and produce a more useful error message that encourages users to request a new project if they need object storage.
