Description

Migrated from: https://wikimedia.mingle.thoughtworks.com/projects/multimedia/cards/251

Now that we are lazy-loading, it can take a sec or two on a slow connection between the click to the image and MMV actually starting up, which can be confusing. We should give some sort of instant feedback to show the click was understood (and to decrease perceived load time) - black overlay, expanding box animation, spinner on the clicked image, something like that.

I believe this is the same request I already filed in Card #248 . So I am removing this from the current release, and adding the text from this card as further clarifications on #248 .

Mass-removing the Multimedia tag from MediaViewer tasks, as this is now being worked on by the Reading department, not Editing's Multimedia team.

Change #1034146 had a related patch set uploaded (by TheDJ; author: TheDJ):

[mediawiki/extensions/MultimediaViewer@master] Add loading bar while loading mmv module

@mwilliams what do you think of the patch demo? Is it okay to merge this from your perspective?

you can't see it in the patchdemo. It seems that patchdemo can't access commons resources completely (at least not 10 days ago).

But essentially, it's this.

@TheDJ Thanks for the screenshot, seems like a good use of of the Codex Progress Bar to me - lets merge it!
