Wikitech registration for prior SVN user
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I was trying to create a wikitech account at [1]:

It says:

Years ago I had an SVN account [2]: rarohde
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Code/MediaWiki/author/rarohde (Dragons
flight https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Dragons_flight)

I tried entering:

Username: Dragons flight
Email address: rohde@robertrohde.com
Instance shell account name: rarohde

And got the error mentioned at the end of the page, presumably because that
shell name was used long, long ago.

For what it is worth, I am ultimately intending to fix some long standing
bugs in AbuseFilter.

-Robert Rohde
aka Dragons_flight on the various wikis.

@Andrew or @RobH can we change that email on the signup page to operations@phab.wm.o? and https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T55793#555374.

@chasemp: You mention changing where such requests are sent. Do I need to do anything else to ensure that this request is seen by the appropriate people? I'm guessing that it is fine here, even if it got started in a suboptimal way, but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks.

The request ended up in the right place, so no worries.

Copying the steps from similar RT #5923:

  1. modify-ldap-user --mail=example@example.com --cn=Example example
  2. change-ldap-passwd --random example
  3. Login to wikitech as Example, using the password returned in #2
  4. Logged out, sent a password reminder
