Mediawiki cannot be responsible if a client crash. It must be a problem in the browser, or other things around it in the client computer.

As for losing your form text, that's something IE just does (at least IE6), which we have no control over at all. I'm mildly surprised that they haven't fixed it for IE7, but anyway current versions of all other major browsers store form text when you go back or forward, to varying extents.
